Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of defective picture elements for bright display and to improve the picture quality of the display panel substantially by plating picture element electrodes for picture elements including a short-circuit defect with a metallic film selectively and putting the short-circuit defective image elements in dark display operation at all times. CONSTITUTION:Picture element electrodes 10 for picture element display, a driving line electrode 30 provided in common to the picture element electrodes 10 and 10, and a display driving element 50 connected between the driving line electrode 30 and respective picture element electrodes 10 are provided on a substrate 1. When it is found that there is a picture element with a short-circuit defect between a picture element electrode 10 and the driving line electrode 30 in the substrate of the display panel which perform bright display at the time of applying a display voltage to the picture element electrode 10, the driving line electrode 30 is used as a plating electrode to perform the electrolytic plating of the substrate 1, thereby plating the picture element electrode 10s for the picture element with the short-circuit defect S2 is plated selectively with the metallic film 60. Consequently, the short-circuit defective picture element is put in the dark display state at all times to improve the display picture quality of the display panel to an extent where the short-circuit defective picture element can not be sensed.
