Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce economical burden by thermally spraying a metal or ceramics to the surface of a container or apparatus so as to cover the radioactive contaminant or crack thereof and applying a hermetic sealing material such as resin compd. or glass onto the thermally sprayed coating to seal the blowholes of the thermal spraying. CONSTITUTION:The metal or ceramics material is thermally sprayed onto the outside surface 11b of the radioactive waste container to form the thermally sprayed layer 13 on the radioactive contaminant 12 if the contaminant 12 sticks to the outside surface 11b of the wall 11a of said container. The high adhesive power is generally obtd. by selecting the metal as the thermally spraying metal if the container is made of a metallic material and by selecting the ceramics if the container is made of a ceramics material. The resin compd. 14 such as paint is then coated as the hermetic sealing material on the layer 13 to seal the blowholes of the layer 13. The thermally sprayed layer 13 is formed and is then sealed by the resin compd. or glass 14 if the wall 11a of the radioactive waste container has the crack 15. The economical burden is reduced and the remote control of the operation is facilitated in such a manner.
