Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an oxide superconductor exhibiting satisfactory superconductive characteristics without feeding oxygen from the outside by mixing a powdery material contg. elements forming the oxide superconductor or powder prepd. by sintering the powdery material with a specified metal oxide and by heat treating the mixture. CONSTITUTION:A powdery material contg. elements forming an oxide superconductor, powder prepd. by calcining the powdery material, powder prepd. by sintering the powdery material or a mixture of one or more among them is used as starting material. This starting material is mixed with powder of at least one kind of metal oxide such as oxide of Ag, Pt, Au, Zn, V, Cr, Mn or Cd and the mixture is heat treated. The amt. of the oxide powder used is generally about 1-30atom.% of the amt. of the starting material. The heat treatment is carried out at about 800-1,000 deg.C for about 1-several hundred hr.
