Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve machining efficiency by intermittently rotating a rotary electrode and a rotary material and providing a first process in which the rotary electrode is driven while the rotation is stopped to carry out electric discharge machining and a second process in which the rotary electrode is driven while both rotary electrode and rotary material are continuously rotated to carry out electric discharge machining. CONSTITUTION:A rotary electrode 1 and a rotary material W are set in the relation of D1=D2 and, at the time of rough or medium machining, the rotary electrode 1 and the rotary material W are intermittently rotated according to an optionally set program and the rotary electrode 1 is driven while their rotations are stopped to carry out electric discharge machining. At the time of finishing, the rotary electrode 1 is driven while continuously rotating the rotary electrode 1 and rotary material W to carry out electric discharge machining. Thereby, an electric discharge machining area can be improved while improving machining efficiency by means of the first process in which the rotary electrode 1 is driven while the rotations of the rotary electrode 1 and the rotary material W are stopped to carry out electric discharge machining, while machining accuracy can be maintained by the second process in which the rotary electrode 1 is driven while rotating both rotary electrode 1 and rotary material W to carry out electric discharge machining.
