Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the piercing property of a suturing needle and to develop blood imperviousness to repeated puncture, by providing at least the innermost layer having an open-cell structure and the intermediate layer having a closed- cell structure adjacent to said innermost layer. CONSTITUTION:The innermost layer 1 has an open-cell structure wherein pores having a diameter of 3mum or more communicate with each other and an intermediate layer 2 having a thickness of 5-10mum containing a large number of mutually independent spherical closed pores having a diameter about 1mum is present outside the layer 1. Further, the outermost layer 3 composed of a macrovoid group having an average diameter of 200-300mum is further present outside the intermediate layer 2. As mentioned above, by bringing the innermost layer to the open-cell structure and the intermediate layer adjacent to the innermost layer to a closed-cell structure, an artificial blood vessel enhanced in the piercing property of a suturing needle and having durability to repeated puncture and excellent blood imperviousness is obtained.
