Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the blackening phenomenon of a light emitting tube from occurring without entailing any chemical change due to heating as well as to aim at the promotion of long service life in a discharge lamp device by constituting it from a discharge lamp tube body, an electrode formed by a semiconductor ceramic to be set up in this discharge lamp tube body and a base part formed by an insulator ceramic sealing and supporting this electrode inside the said tube body. CONSTITUTION:An electrode part consists of a tube body 1 for a discharge lamp, a cathode electrode 2 using a semiconductor ceramic to be set up in this tube body 1 and a base part 3 formed by an insulator ceramic sealing and supporting this cathode electrode 2 in the inner part of the tube body 1, while the cathode electrode 2 consists of a discharge part 2a projected to the inside of the tube body 1 and an outer end 2b projected to the outside of the tube body 1, and current-energization is carried out by connecting a lead wire 4 connected to this outer end 2b to a power source (unillustrated herein). As for this semiconductor ceramic, a valence compensation type semiconductor ceramic is enumerable, by way of example. A typical example of this valence compensation type semiconductor ceramic is such one that used a barium titanate system. Since the cathode electrode 2 is formed with the semiconductor ceramic as above-mentioned, any chemical change due to heating is in no case produced there and a light emitting tube is prevented from blackening, thus the promotion of long service life can be realized.
