Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent generation of harmful gas or malodor, to improve treating speed, and to reduce energy cost by forming an electric field by feeding electric power to electrically charged materials contained in waste photographic processing liquid before and/or during evaporation treatment and performing electric treatment of the waste liquid. CONSTITUTION:A part of waste photographic processing liquid constituent is evaporated by feeding the liquid to an evaporating kettle and heating, and the residual part is discarded in the form of concentrated liquid or dry cake. In this stage, electric treatment of the waste liquid is performed by forming electric field in the waste liquid by feeding electric power to electrically charged materials (e.g. electric wire 70 covered with a nonconductive material wound around a buffer tank 30) contained in the waste photographic processing liquid before and/or during evaporation treatment. As a result, the amt. of generated harmful gas or malodor is reduced remarkably and energy cost is reduced also because extremely high evaporation speed is attained are compared to conventional evaporation treatment based on conventional heating means.
