Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a stronger magnetic field of an arbitrary shape and to eliminate the leakage of magnetism to an exterior by mounting a magnetic shield layer of a superconducting substance inside a superconducting magnet cryostat. CONSTITUTION:A cryostat for a superconducting magnet is formed of a superconducting coil 1, cooling medium 2 for cooling the coil to a critical temperature or less, a heat insulating vessel 3 for holding temperature, and a magnetic shield layer 4 of a superconducting substance at a position cooled by the medium 2 inside the vessel 3. The shape of the layer 4 is altered to change the intensity of a magnetic field. Then, lines 4 of magnetic force cannot pass the shield layer by means of Meissner effect, and enclosed in a shape responsive to the shape of the layer 4. Thus, the stronger magnetic field of arbitrary shape is obtained to eliminate the leakage of the magnetism to an exterior.
