Abstract

PURPOSE:To recognize the existence of a chip component transferred by an attracting nozzle without fail by a method wherein a means for detecting the existence or posture of the transferred component is provided in the transfer route of the attracting nozzle and the detection signal is maintained for a certain time. CONSTITUTION:Eighteen attracting nozzles 21 which attract and hold chip components fed by a component feeder 3 are provided along the circumference of a turntable 2. A component detecting means 10 which can detect the existence of the transferred chip component is provided in the transfer route of the attracting nozzle 21. In the component detecting means 10, the output pulse from a component detecting sensor 11 is amplified by a pulse converter 12 and supplied to a CPU 14 through an interface 13 for operation processing to expand the width of the detection pulse and maintain the detection signal for a certain time longer than the interval of detection sampling timing of the CPU 14. With this constitution, whatever state the posture of the chip component attracted and held by the attracting nozzle is in, the existence of the component can be detected without fail and detection failure can be avoided.
