Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase both the high rate performance and the low rate performance of a battery by placing a composite film consisting of a thin film mainly comprising polymethylpentene and a microporous film which supports this thin film between the air intake side of an oxygen gas diffusion electrode and the the inside of a battery container. CONSTITUTION:A battery has a gas diffusion electrode 1 for using oxygen as an active material and an air intake hole 3. An oxygen selectively permeable composite film 11 consisting of a thin film mainly comprising polymethylpentene and a microporous film which supports this thin film is placed between the air intake side of the oxygen gas diffusion electrode 1 and the inside of a battery container. The thin film is a uniform nonporous film and has the selective permeability of oxygen. The composite film 11 is placed between a porous film 2 made of PTFE and a porous body 4 which diffuse oxygen, and the thin film comprising polymethylpentene of the composite film 14 is faced to the electrode 1.
