Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation or damage of a recording film during standby state for a long period of time by providing a means avoiding radiation by a laser beam to areas other than a servo area, a track address and an ID area recorded with control information in the standby state. CONSTITUTION:A controller 114 issues a standby signal (a) at H level, a laser-on signal (b) at H level and a read signal (c) at L level in the standby and an output of an AND gate 112 is at L. When one of outputs of a synchronizing detection circuit 119 and a servo detection circuit 118 is at H, the output of a NOR 113 is at L, the output of a NAND 112 is at H and the output of an AND 111 is at H and the laser element 110 is driven in the servo or ID region in the intensity at read.
