Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the erroneous recording of an erasure signal and the destruction of recorded information already by bringing a power of a light source to a power at the reproduction or below or zero if any of servos is in unlocked state. CONSTITUTION:When the tracking servo 13 reaches the unlocked state during the erasure mode, a mechanical control 5 brings a ready signal to a low level and reduce the power of the laser diode to the power at the reproduction via laser power control circuit 12. When the focus servo 11 reaches the unlocked state in the recording mode, a control 5 brings the ready signal to a low level and also decreases the power of the laser diode to the power at the reproduction via the circuit 12. Even when the disk servo 6 is brought into the unlocked state in both the erasure and reproduction modes, the laser power is brought into zero.
