Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect a defect in the sealing of a body to be inspected, by providing a liquid chamber for air leak detection and detecting an air bubble produced in liquid through electrostatic capacity. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle 33 whose tip opening 33b is arranged in the liquid in the liquid storage container 28 is connected to an air pressure source 1 through ducts 25 and 4a. The upper space 32a in the liquid chamber 32 is connected to the body 14 to be inspected through ducts 26 and 4b. Piping 3 equalizes the pressure of the air source 1 to the pressure of the body 14 to be inspected and then a valve 9 provided on the piping 3 is closed to shield the air source 1 and body 14 from each other. If air leaks from the body 14, the pressure in the upper space 32a in the liquid chamber 32 drops through the ducts 26 and 4b and air from the air source 1 is injected into the liquid chamber 32 through the nozzle 33, so an air bubble is produced in the liquid. Then the electrostatic capacity between electrodes 34 and 34 varies, so the defect in the sealing of the body 14 to be inspected is detected.
