Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance dimensional stability at relatively low temp. and to uniformly lower the dimensional change rate in the longitudinal direction of a film, in a heat-treatment method for holding a roll of a biaxially oriented polyester film under a specific temp. atmosphere for a specific time or more, by taking up the film in such a state that the take-up tension of the inner layer part of the roll is high and that of the outer layer part thereof is low. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented polyester film is taken up in a roll form so that the take-up tension of the inner layer part of the taken-up roll is made high and that of the outer layer part thereof is made low. The take-up tension is pref. set to 0.5-1.0kg/mm<2> up to a length about 1/3 the total length of the winding from a winding core and pref. gradually lowered linearly or stepwise lowered in the inner layer - surface layer (remaining length of about 2/3) on and after. The take-up tension of the inner layer - surface layer is pref. set to 0.5-0.10kg/mm<2>. Subsequently, the biaxially oriented polyester film taken up in a roll form is held under a temp. atmosphere of 40-90 deg.C for 24hr or more. By this method, a polyester film uniformly and markedly reduced in a dimensional change rate at relatively low temp. can be obtained.
