Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a double-coated pressure-sensitive adhesive tape free of a release paper, by applying a release agent partially to predetermined positions of the obverse and reverse of a lengthy tape base, applying an adhesive to one face of the tape base, and winding in such a manner that the adhesive layer comes inside. CONSTITUTION:A release agent is partially applied to the obverse and reverse of a lengthy tape base 1 at positions predetermined so as to prevent the agent applied on the obverse from coming into contact with the one applied on the reverse when winding the tape base so as to produce a roll, thereby forming a release agent layer 2. Subsequently, an adhesive is applied to one face of the coated tape base, and the tape base is wound in such a manner that an adhesive layer 3 comes inside. When the tape is rewound at the time of use, the adhesive 3 applied onto the release agent 2 is transferred to the opposite face of the tape base 1, thereby obtaining a double-coated pressure-sensitive adhesive tape. Accordingly, no large-scale facilities are required, and low cost production is possible. Moreover, since no release paper is used, the roll diameter when the tape is in a roll form is decreased as much. Therefore, handling is facilitated in the steps of production, packing and transportation and workability is high since it is not necessary to remove a release paper when using the tape.
