Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the candidate selecting load of a writer with a device that recognizes an input character from its holograph, by identifying a candidate from the features different from those used for selection of the candidate. CONSTITUTION:The written character data inputted from a tablet 100 is converted into an input pattern TX by a pre-processing part 200 and sent to a candidate selecting part 300. The part 300 decides two candidate character patterns AX and BX, for example, based on the stroke distance between the pattern TX and a standard pattern and sends both patterns to a directional angle converting part 600. The part 600 converts the character pattern where the feature value is shown in the xy coordinate value into a directional angle and sends this to a candidate identifying part 400. At the same time, the feature value of the pattern TX is also converted into a directional angle and sent to the part 400. The part 400 obtains the identifying features from the candidate character pattern and outputs the result of recognition via the comparison with the pattern TX.
