この発明のタブレツト上に書かれた漢字かな混
り日本語を認識するオンライン手書き文字認識装
置に関する。
(背景技術)
キーボードから漢字なり混り日本語を入力する
方法は従来から種々提案されているがいずれも熟
練を要するため、最近はタブレツト上にペンで文
字を書くことによつて入力するオンライン手書き
文字認識装置が開発されている。
従来の一般的なオンライン手書文字認識装置の
ブロツク図を第1図に示す。1は入力ペン2によ
り筆記される文字の軌跡情報を発生するためのタ
ブレツト、3は前記タブレツト2からの筆点運動
情報を受け、既知の認識手法、例えば文字を構成
するストロークの長さ、形状などの幾何学的な特
徴を用いて認識する方法、文字を構成する偏、
旁、冠などの部首や部分パターンの特徴及びそれ
らの間の相対的位置関係や筆記順序などを用いて
認識する方法などによつて認識した文字に該当す
るコードを発生する認識部で、高速乗算器や専用
マイクロプロセツサから構成されている。4は前
記認識部3で行なう認識手法に用いる各文字の特
徴データ並びにその文字コードを記憶している第
1辞書部、5は認識装置全体の動作を制御し、又
認識された文字コードを取り込んでフオントメモ
リ6から該当するドツトパターンデータを読み出
し、モニタ用の表示装置7又はプリンタ8に認識
文字を可視出力する制御部で、中央処理装置
(CPU)やメモリから構成されている。
次に上記のような構成において、手書文字認識
手順の一例を説明する。ペン1でタブレツト2上
に文字を書くと、ペンの動きによつてペン先のポ
イントの座標XYが順次出力され、認識部3に送
られる。認識部3では、先ず平滑化、標本化等の
公知の前処理が行なわれ、下記の第1表に示すよ
うな基本ストロークが認識される。例えばCスト
ロークの次にBストロークが認識されれば、“イ”
すなわち“にんべん”であることを認識する。ま
た同様に、A,B,C,Dストロークが順次認識
されれば、“木”であることが認識される。
CB=“イ”=α,ABCD=“木”=βのように辞
書部4に記憶されており、またαβ=“休”と記憶
されているとき、タブレツト2上に

ードと索引を認識するための索引モードとに切替
える切替スイツチと、認識部により索引として認
識された筆記文字に対応する索引コードによつて
その索引に該当する文字群の辞書部におけるアド
レスデータを発生する索引部と、切替スイツチの
状態に応じた切替え信号に基づく制御部からの制
御信号に従つて、認識部で認識された文字あるい
は索引部で指定された文字群のいずれか一方の文
字コードを辞書部から取り出す切替部とを備え、 前記索引モードでは、タブレツト上に筆記され
た所望の漢字の読み仮名の第1音又は当該漢字の
部首名である索引データに対応する索引コードを
認識部が辞書部から読み出し、その索引コードに
