PURPOSE:To realize a word processor where the light pen is used to input and correct characters easily. CONSTITUTION:Characters handwritten in handwriting input part 20 are displayed successively on handwriting input part 20 by light pen 1. When the control key of keyboard 4 is depressed after the completion of writing of characters, controller 5 receives the control signal from the control key to read contents of pattern memory 3 and discriminates a character expressed by the pertinent pattern. This pattern recognition work is performed by the operation of software. Controller 5 outputs the code signal corresponding to the character, which is discrminated by pattern recognition, to character generator 6. Character generator 6 receives this code signal to output the dot pattern of the corresponding character. Screen memory 8 receives this dot pattern and the control signal of controller 5 to store this dot pattern in a prescribed position. As the result, characters recognized by controller 5 are displayed on the normal display part of CRT9.
