Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve powder characteristics of synthetic polymer powder, e.g. bulk density, fluidity and antiblocking property, by coagulating latex of a graft copolymer containing a rubber as a stem polymer and adding a silicone oil to the coagulated product. CONSTITUTION:The graft copolymer latex to be used as a raw material for the powder is composed of (a) 5-80wt.% of a rubber (preferably a rubber produced by emulsion polymerization of 20-80pts.wt. of butadiene, 0-50pts.wt. of styrene, 0-20pts.wt. of a copolymerizable monomer and 0.5-5pts.wt. of a crosslinking agent) and (b) 20-95wt.% of a grafting component (preferably composed of 30-70wt.% of methyl methacrylate, 30-70wt.% of styrene, 0-20wt.% of a crosslinkable monomer and 0-50wt.% of a crosslinking agent). The latex is coagulated and preferably dehydrated or dried. The obtained powder is added with 0.01-10pts.wt. of a silicone oil based on 100pts.wt. of the graft copolymer of the above latex.
