Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily and accurately check the operating state of a probe, by directly receiving the sonic wave itself emitted from a piezoelectric element. CONSTITUTION:A drive electric signal is sent to lead titanate zirconate (PZT) 1 being a piezoelectric element through a flexible printed circuit board (FPC) 12 and this PZT 1 converts an electric signal to an ultrasonic signal. The ultrasonic signal from the PZT 1 is subjected to impedance matching by the first matching layer 3 and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) 11 and converged by an acoustic lens 5 to irradiate an examinee while said signal is converted to an electric signal in the PVDF 11. The output of the PVDF 11 is subjected to the checking of a probe.
