Abstract
PURPOSE:To make an effective area for electric generation larger, by connecting one of rear surface electrode layers and upper transparent electrode layers to a metal substrate, and extending the other over a protecting film on an insulating coating layer. CONSTITUTION:Three photovoltaic elements are connected in series. Electric power is generated with light 1 from the direction shown by an arrow. An upper transparent electrode layer 51 constitutes the photovoltaic element at the left end. An extending part 54 of the layer 51 is brought into contact with a part 11 of the surface of a metal substrate 10, which is exposed at the cut-out part of an insulating coating layer 20 provided on the surface. Thus, one of the output lead-out electrodes of the photovoltaic devices is connected to the metal substrate 10. The metal substrate 10 becomes a negative output lead-out electrode (grounding electrode). Meanwhile, a rear surface electrode 33, which constitutes the photovoltaic element at the right end, is extended on the insulating coating layer 20. Thus, only a positive output lead-out electrode 34 is formed. Therefore, the effective electric generating area can be secured sufficiently widely.
