Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the overload condition of windings, which is accompanied by sudden acceleration, by a method wherein a main winding and a starting winding are provided with inverters respectively while the voltage/frequency ratio of the outputs thereof is controlled strongly during the time of acceleration. CONSTITUTION:PWM type inverters 2, 12 are provided to the main winding 61 and the starting winding 62 of a single-phase induction motor 57 respectively. PWM controlling units 3, 13 control the frequency and the voltage of the inverters 2, 12 by the frequency signal of a frequency setter 5, which is controlled through program control, and the voltage control signals of voltage regulators 4, 14. The voltage regulators 4, 14 output voltage control signals in accordance with the output of a phase shifter 21 which provides phase differences between the output voltages of voltage setters 6, 16 and the inverters 2, 12. Upon starting the single-phase induction motor 57, the frequency thereof is increased stepwisely while the voltage thereof is controlled so that a voltage/ frequency ratio is controlled strongly.
