Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive improvement in productivity and labor saving, by mixing a compound containing specific group elements of the periodic table with a compound containing copper, melting the mixture and carrying out quenching and annealing treatment. CONSTITUTION:A compound containing oxides of group II-A and III-A elements of the periodic table, etc., is mixed with a compound containing copper so as to provide a specific proportion of the constituent metallic elements. The resultant mixture is then melted in an electric furnace, etc., and formed into a melt having a viscosity so as to mutually mix the respective metallic elements at an atomic level. Furthermore, the obtained melt is quenched in a pressurized state to ambient temperature. The quenched mixture is then subjected to annealing treatment at about 800-950 deg.C in air or oxygen in an electric furnace for several hr for stabilizing the quenched material. Thereby the aimed superconductor is obtained with the increased critical temperature thereof in a short time, resulting in improved productivity of the superconductor.
