Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress connection loss by providing members which maintain a prescribed spacing between a lower substrate having V-grooves of the width and depth at which optical fibers are partly exposed and an upper substrate disposed with an elastic member in the surface opposite to the lower substrate. CONSTITUTION:The lower substrate 2 having the V-grooves 3 provided with the width and depth at which the optical fibers 4, etc., are partly exposed, the upper substrate 1 disposed with the elastic member 5 on the surface opposite to the substrate 2 and projecting parts 6 projecting from four corners of the substrate 1a are provided on the titled connector and the spacing between the substrates 1 and 2 is maintained at the prescribed spacing. The front ends of the fibers 4, 4' to be aligned are butted from both sides on the grooves 3 and the substrate 1 is imposed thereon to exert perpendicular load to the fibers 4, 4'. The direction of the force to be exerted to the fibers 4, 4' is aligned to the bisector of the angle of the grooves 3 so that the positive load is exerted to the fibers. The floating at the front ends of the fibers 4, 4' is thereby obtd. and the misalignment by a difference in the outside diameter is corrected, by which the connection loss is suppressed.
