Abstract
PURPOSE: To acquire improved lumber with woody feeling and excellent productivity in addition to resistances against heat, water and hot water by dispersing and hardening compositions containing epoxy resin and latent hardening catalyst as main components in lumber. CONSTITUTION: Listed as for epoxy resins are, for example, alicyclic epoxy resin, hydantoin type epoxy resin, triglycidyl isocyanurate, aromatic epoxy resin and the like, whereas for latent hardening catalysts are, for instance, amine complex of such Lewis acids as BF3 , PF5 , AsF5 , SbF5 and others, butoxyboroxy-butyl amine complex, triallyl sulfonate and the like. Known as impregnation methods are reduced/normal pressure or reduced/raised pressure method in which lumber is dipped in impregnation liquid under reduced pressure followed by dipping under normal or raised pressure in addition to those dipped under normal pressure, and after the impregnation, lumber is dried to vaporize solvent and impregnated resin is hardened by heating and others. Improved lumber obtained has high resistances against water, heat and hot water, and also woody feeling because epoxy resin has been hardened within lumber.
