Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a stable phase locked loop oscillator of a microwave band with simple constitution by providing a fixed frequency divider between a voltage controlled oscillator and a sampling phase detector (SPD). CONSTITUTION:A harmonic of a reference input signal of a reference oscillator 1 and a frequency division output being the result of frequency-dividing an output of the microwave band voltage controlled oscillator 5 by an analog frequency divider 4 are subject to phase detection by the SPD 2 and a control voltage is fed back to the voltage controlled oscillator 5 through a loop filter 3 to constitute the phase locked loop. That is, since the analog frequency divider 4 is provided between the voltage controlled oscillator 5 and the SPD 2, the input frequency to the SPD 2 is lowered and the phase detection sensitivity is taken sufficiently larger thereby constituting a stable phase locked loop. Thus, the stable phase locked loop oscillator with low phase noise and simple constitution is obtained.
