Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of parts and to shorten the time for assembly by including a ferrule in a plug frame and exerting pressing force axially to the ferrule by means of a spring interposed between the plug frame and knob. CONSTITUTION:The plug frame 2 includes the ferrule so that the adhering and fixing of the ferrule and an optical fiber 6 and the adhering and fixing of the plug frame 2 and the 'Kevlar(R)' sheath of an optical code 7 can be simultaneously executed. The ferrule is pushed forward by the spring 3 and is butted against the opposite ferrule when the plug is inserted into an adapter 8. Since the knob 4 is conversely pushed backward by the spring 3, the sloped part 4d of the knob 4 and the projection 10a of an elastic detaining piece 10 contact each other and are detained with each other at one point on the slope 4d where the force of the spring 3 to push the knob 4 backward and the force to pull the knob 4 forward by the deflection of the elastic detaining piece 10 are balanced. On the other hand, the elastic detaining piece 10 is opened and the plug is removed from the adapter 8 when the plug is retreated by holding the knob 4. The number of parts is thereby decreased and the time for the assembly is shortened.
