Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a fuel cell with a scrubber in which metallic wool is not required to be exchanged and phosphoric acid absorptivity can be recovered in a short time, by installing a washing device in a scrubber so that an acidic fluid dissolving phosphate produced on a surface of the metallic wool is made as a washing liquid to flow in/out. CONSTITUTION:An upper part of a scrubber 4 is connected through an inlet pipe 6 in the vicinity of an exhaust gas outlet of a fuel cell body. This scrubber 4 is filled with metallic wool 5 in order to remove phosphoric acid. An outlet pipe 7 with a valve 7a and an exhaust liquid pipe 8 with a valve 8a are connected with a lower part of the scrubber 4. Further, the other end of the exhaust liquid pipe 8 is opened inside a storing liquid jar 12 in which a washing liquid 14 consisting of 10-50% organic acid such as tartaric acid and citric acid is stored. A supply liquid pipe 9 is installed between the storage liquid jar 12 and the scrubber 4 so that its one end is opened into the stored liquid 14 inside the storage liquid jar 12 and its other end penetrates through the scrubber 4 and is opened on the metallic wool 5. A valve 9a and a pump 11 are disposed in the middle of this supply liquid pipe 9.
