PURPOSE:To easily obtain the titled compound useful as a sensitive material for silver halide color photography, in high yield, by using easily available 3,3-disubstituted-acrylonitriles and hydrazine as raw materials and reacting the compounds with each other. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula III can be produced by reacting (A) 3,3-disubstituted-acrylonitriles of formula II easily producible by the reaction of 3,3-dithioacrylonitriles of formula I (R1 is alkyl; R2 is R1 or aryl; R1 and R2 may together form a heterocyclic group; X is H or substituent) with an alkoxy anion with (B) anhydrous hydrazine or its hydrate in the absence of solvent at 80-150 deg.C for 1-2hr. The objective compound is a synthetic raw material for 6-alkoxy-1H-pyrazolo[1,5-b]-1,2,4-triazole-type or 6-alkoxy-1H- pyrazolo[5,1-c]-1,2,4-triazole-type magenta coupler useful as a sensitive material for silver halide color photography.
