Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive body superior in sensitivity and electric charge retentivity by specifying the contents of volatile matter, ash, and sodium of a charge generating material. CONSTITUTION:When an organic pigment is used as the charge generating material of the photosensitive body, its impurities are reduced to the content of <=2.5wt.% volatile matter, <=0.2wt.% ash, and <=150ppm sodium by sufficiently washing it with water, rewashing it with deionized water or distilled water, further sufficiently washing it with an organic solvent, such as tetrahydrofuran or dimethylformamide, and then, drying it, thus permitting the obtained organic pigment to be improved in dispersion stability, and the obtained photosensitive body to be enhanced in sensitivity and stability against repeated uses.
