Abstract

PURPOSE:To trip an interrupter reliably, by providing a main transistor having specific current limit time and current limit level, a base drive circuit having a regulator for regulating during an interval corresponding to the current limit time and a means for regulating the regulator. CONSTITUTION:When a semiconductor interrupter (not shown) fails to interrupt fault current and Id2 is limited continuously from a time point (t3) when a fault occurs to a time point (t4), output from a one-shot multiple vibrator OM is brought to H level so as to bring the output from an AND gate LG to H level thus operating a flip-flop circuit FF. Consequently, positive voltage is applied through an input resistor R3 onto an input terminal of an operational amplifier OA to turn a regulator transistor ATR off so as to bring input voltage ET of a transformer T to zero. As a result, base current IB does not flow through a main transistor MTR and the main transistor MTR is turned off.
