Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the splicing of an optical fiber cable of a multicore, as well, and to prevent an optical fiber from being damaged due to a horizontal shift of a clamp material, by providing a recessed part in the center of a base made of ceramic, providing a rise part on both its sides, providing a V-groove being shallower than the diameter of the optical fiber on the upper end face of the rise part, and also, providing projectingly a clamp guide plate. CONSTITUTION:One piece each of optical fibers 20 of a multicore is set to each of V-grooves 4 which are recessed and provided at a prescribed pitch on the upper end face of a rise part 3 of both sides of a recessed part 2 of a base body 1 and are shallower than the diameter of the optical fiber, and each tip of each optical fiber 20 is butted. Subsequently, a clamp material is placed on the upper face projected to the upper part of the V-groove 4 of the optical fiber 20 which has been set and the optical fiber 20 is clamped, and thereafter, a splicing means which has been allowed to ascend from a through-hole 6 in the center of the recessed part 2 is utilized, and by forming an arc by a vapor phase discharge method, the tips of the optical fibers 20 are fused. In such a way, a connecting work of the multicore optical fiber can be executed more efficiently, and also, at the time of placing the clamp material on the upper face of the V-groove 4, it is not shifted in the horizontal direction and it does not occur that the optical fiber 20 is damaged.
