Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve connection with low loss, by pushing an optical fiber, through the optical fiber holder of a fixed stand providing V-grooves at the upper surface for optical fiber installation, bent and deformed toward the V- groove axis. CONSTITUTION:On the upper surface of a fixed stand 2, multistripes of V- grooves are processed and optical fibers are fixed on it with a clamp 4. At the time of connection by melt-sticking, a motor 9 is driven while a multicore optical fiber ends are heated to a softening point or above of optical fiber material with gas discharge or CO2 laser, a micrometer 11 is rotated with gears 10, 10' to push one side of the fixed stand 2. Since a notch 12 is processed at the root pushed with the fixed stand 2, deformation by bending is caused, an optical fiber holder (upper part of the fixed stand 2) moves slightly toward the optical fiber axis and the optical fibers are pushed. The amount of pushing is <=0.1mm. and this does not give any effect on connection loss.
