Abstract
PURPOSE:To absorb the variation in engine torque with a damper and damp down the oscillation of rotation by bringing a piston and the hub of a turbine into sliding contact with each other by the deformation of the piston due to the output of oil and generating a hysteresis torque in a lock-up damper. CONSTITUTION:At the time of lock up, a pressure oil is fed from a passage 16b into an oil chamber 50 through spaces 50a-50c and the flowed-in pressure oil acts on the wide pressure receiving face of a piston 21a to push the piston 21a rearward, causing the plate 60 of a lock-up damper 21 to be brought into pressure contact with a front-cover side plate 64. On the other hand, since spaces A, B are set on the outer peripheral and inner peripheral boss parts 70, 71 of the piston 21a, at the time of completion of the lock up when the boss part 70 presses the plate 64, a sliding contact face 73 has been brought into sliding contact with a face 74, generating a hysteresis torque between both faces.
