Abstract

A torsional vibration damper has an input transmission element (3) and an output transmission element (46), of which at least one acts as locating means for a spring device (28). Each transmission element (3, 46) has an associated respective flywheel (1, 45) and at least one transmission element is connected through the spring device (28) to at least one element of a gearing system (100) which is provided between the input and output transmission elements (3, 46) and is coupled back to the input transmission element (3). On the introduction of a torque associated with a torsional vibration the gearing system (100) divides the torque into partial torques, and at least a part of the torque is fed back to the input transmission element (3). A differential torque formed from the sum of the partial torques deforms the spring device (28).
