An automatic gear 3, provided with a lock up solenoid 4 in the torque converter thereof, is controlled by an exclusive control unit 6. Respective detection signals of a sensor 7-11 of every kind, detecting the operation condition of the internal combustion 1 and the automatic gear 3, is inputted each other to respective control units 5, 6. In this case, the goal air-fuel ratio on outputting the lean burn signal is corrected in the value lower than the lean side air-fuel ratio, or the value near the theoretical air-fuel ratio, during outputting the lock up signal.
