Abstract

PURPOSE:To readily obtain at low cost the titled surface-hardened sintered form suitable for sliding members, jigs for heat treatment of complicate shape, etc. which require moderate hardness, by bringing carbonaceous matter into contact with the surface of a BN form followed by calcination at normal pressure in an inert gas atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:(A) A BN form is brought into contact with (B) for example, graphitized carbon powder with a size of <=0.5mm containing little impurities through embedding the component B in the component A followed by calcination at 1,500-2,100 deg.C under normal pressure in an inert gas, thus obtaining the objective surface-hardened sintered form.
