Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an effective pulse compressed waveform with small loss by generating an optimum reference function for a sent waveform which is distorted owing to transmitter characteristics, etc. CONSTITUTION:A wide pulse width signal which is frequency-modulated is reflected by a target and received and data of the received wave is stored in a memory 1. A compressed wave to be obtained after compression, on the other hand, is determined and the spectrum of the desired compressed wave is generated by a reference spectrum generation part 2. Further, a modulated wide pulse width signal is distorted by the transmitter characteristics, etc., and a signal which is transmitted actually is different from a designed waveform. The spectrum of this actual sent wave is generated by a sent wave spectrum generation part 3. Then an optimum reference function generation part 4 outputs the best reference function 4 based upon the reference spectrum and sent wave spectrum to an autocorrelation processing part 5. The processing part 5 performs correlation processing for the best reference function with respect to the received data in the memory 1 to obtain desired pulse compressed waveform.
