CONSTITUTION:A composite AlN plate substantially formed of AlN sintered compact, which is composed of two or more regions different from each other in oxygen content, tor instance, superficial regions 12 and 13 high oxygen content and another region 11 low in oxygen content, is utilized as a base. Thereby, the region other than the superficial region is excellent in thermal conductivity, a circuit pattern can be adhered to the superficial region of the composite AlN plate with high bonding strength, and the superficial region of the composite AlN plate looks black or milk white due to the high oxygen content and is low in a light transmittance, so that the identification and the inspection of the circuit pattern formed of the superficial region can be easily performed.
