Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a valve guide material having excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance by compounding the specific compsn. of phosphor bronze powders and the specific amt. of Ni powders into copper powders and molding and sintering the same. CONSTITUTION:The specific amt. of phosphor bronze powders contg. 10+ or -2% Sn, 0.3+ or -0.1% P and the balance Cu, 1-5% Ni and further at least either 1-5% graphite or MoS2 at need are compounded into the copper powders. Said compounded powders are molded as material and are sintered at about 800 deg.C to form the valve guide material. Since said material has excellent wear resistance at a high temp., durability and high capacity can be expected in the use for an outboard engine, etc.
