Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a minute thin membrane consisting of alloy by performing electroless plating of palladium on the surface of a porous ceramic layer and thereafter forming an electrolytic plating layer of palladium or palladium alloy thereon. CONSTITUTION:Pd<2+> is firstly reduced as Pd by using a reducing agent and it is deposited on a porous ceramic layer 1 having pore diameter not more than about 1mum and an electroless plating layer 3 is formed at 1-3mum and furthermore an electrolytic plating layer 4 of Pd is formed thereon at 10-30mum by reducing Pd<2+> in an electrolytic bath and depositing Pd. The membrane for separating gas obtained by such a way has thin thickness and also is excellent in permselectivity of H2.
