Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten a rotation waiting time and to shorten an access time by starting a read action from a sector detected first after a data read instruction is issued. CONSTITUTION:A controller 18, when a data read instruction signal 112 is inputted from a host processor, outputs a disk control signal 109 and a track buffer control signal 108 to start reading data equal to one track length from a disk, then detects the end of the read of the sector equal to one track length by means of a coincidence signal 111, and further, informs the host processor of that data on the track buffer 11 is valid by means of a buffer read able signal 113. Also, the controller 18, when detecting the starts of respective sectors through sector detection signals 103 during the execution of the one-track-length sector read, activates an address generator 14 by means of a control signal 110. As a result, the rotation waiting time is made actually almost zero, and data equal to one track length can be buffered within approximately the one- turning-time of the disk, thus an access time is shortened.
