Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive to improve the lighting efficiency and the S/N of a read signal by providing a light guide to the side face in which an illuminating light of a fiber array plate is made incident so as to reduce the reflection of the illuminating light onto the face of the fiber array plate toward the original face. CONSTITUTION:The light guide 110 is provided to the opening of the light shield layer 106 provided to the side face of the fiber array plate 101 and the illuminating light from the light source 105 is made incident in the fiber array plate through the light guide. That is, the illuminating light from the light source 305 is refracted in a direction where an angle 334 made incident in a face 330 of the fiber array plate toward the original face minimizes at the incident in the light guide 310, thereby lowering the incident angle 334. Thus, it is possible to reduce remarkably the loss of the illuminating light on the face 330 due to the reflection. Thus, the efficiency of lighting and the S/N of the read signal are improved.
