Abstract
PURPOSE:To discriminate a proper alignment of objectives from an improper alignment thereof, by utilizing a constitution wherein an index receptor system can extinguish part of reflected index images when the vertex of a cornea to be inspected is positioned in the vicinity of a position where index images are formed. CONSTITUTION:When the vertex R of a cornea is positioned in a position where secondary alignment index images X1', X2' and X3' are formed and objectives are in improper alignment, luminous fluxes which give rise to primary index images X2 and X3 undergo specular reflection by the cornea so as to form index images X2' and X3' in the vicinity of the vertex R. Optical elements which constitute an index receptor system 27b are projected to form index images X2' and X3' in the vicinity of the vertex R, and alignment index fluxes which have undergone specular reflection by the cornea C are shielded by a stop 16. As a result, alignment reflection index images Y2' and Y3' are extinguished and only an alignment reflection index image Y1' is formed on a receptor plane 25a. Thus the improper alignment can be readily discriminated to thereby attain a proper alignment of objectives.
