Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent development of abnormal erosion and to restrain progress of the erosion by packing mud containing TiO2 into an iron tapping hole near the eroded part in furnace bottom and sticking the TiO2 in the mud to the eroded position. CONSTITUTION:At the time of plugging the iron tapping hole 4 near the eroded position 5 in the furnace bottom 2 and lower side wall part 3 of the blast furnace 1, the muds 6 adding TiO2 content are packed with a mud gun 7 at plural times. Together with the wall making action of the mud 6, by sticking the TiO2 in the mud 6 to the eroded position 5 as high m.p. compound, the refractory in the blast furnace is protected. As the TiO2 content adding in the mud 6, ilmenite, sorel flux, iron sand, etc., is used. By this method, additional quantity of the TiO2 can be saved. Further, the operation is stabilized and the deterioration of the quality of molten iron can be prevented.
