Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate reduction in the loading amount of iron ore, upgrade the yield of molten steel and recover effectively CO evolving during the refining of the iron ore, by using coke powder as a heat source for heat balancing when using limestone as the slag forming agent in converter refining.
CONSTITUTION: Limestone along with molten pig iron and other secondary raw material is partially loaded from the top of the converter as preloading, and at the same time, limestone powder along with the coke powder is loaded from at least one blow nozzle 1 at the bottom of the converter 2. Or the total amount of the limestone may be loaded from the top of the converter or the total amount of the limestone powder from the nozzle 1 and further, the coke powder may be loaded from a nozzle other than the nozzles for the limestone. CO2 formed in the decomposition reaction of limestone reacts with a part of the coke powder loaded and is recovered as CO gas.
