Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable components of solid solution comprising Bi2O3 and the like to be prevented from evaporating and scattering during sintering process, by employing a series of processes in which mixture of ZnO and additives manifesting voltage nonlinearity is formed into a desired structure and pre-sintered, Pt powder is then applied to the opposited surfaces of the pre-sintered compact, the Pt powder is thereafter baked during the sintering process of the compact pre-sintered at specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:Mixture of ZnO as a main component and additives manifesting voltage nonlinearity is formed into a desired structure and pre-sintered at temperature between 800 and 1000 deg.C, conductive paste containing a predetermined amount of Pt powder is then applied to the opposited surfaces of a compact 1, the Pt powder is thereafter baked during sintering process of the compact 1 which has been pre-sintered to form electrodes 2. Now, the Pt powder with an average particle diameter of 0.5-0.7mum is employed. As a result, without having any effects on the sintered body 1 of a voltage nonlinear resistor, components of solid solution comprising Bi2O3 and the like are physically prevented from evaporating and scattering during the sintering process of the voltage nonlinear component. Moreover, electrode formation is performed during the sintering process, which is very advantageous in productivity.
