Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a metallized product having excellent heat resistance, heat- resistant corrosion resistance and strength by feeding a chemically active metal onto the surface of ceramic, optionally preheating to a given temperature, melting and bonding by laser beam. CONSTITUTION:A chemically active metal such as an alloy which is one or more combination of Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Hf and Ta is, for example, in a state of metallic foil and fed onto ceramic 3 such as Al2O3, SiC, Si3N4, MgO, (partially) stabilized ZrO2 or sialon, optionally preheated to >=400 deg.C by a heater 4, irradiated with laser beam 1 such as CO2 YAG laser having 0.5-2.5kW output, heated to 3,500-4,000 deg.C, the alloy 2 is melted and bonded to form a metallized layer having excellent strength.
