Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a metallized product having excellent strength, slightly cracking, by feeding an alloy consisting of a noble metal and one or more of Cu, Ti, Zr and Hf onto the surface of ceramic, optionally preheating to a given temperature, melting and bonding by laser beam. CONSTITUTION:An alloy 2 consisting >=50wt.% noble metal such as Ag, Au or Rh, <=50wt.% one or more of Cu, Ti, Zr and Hf and an unavoidable impurity and to be metallized is, for example, in a state of metallic foil and fed onto a ceramic 3 such as Al2O3, SiC, Si3N4, MgO, (partially) stabilized ZrO2 or sialon, optionally heated to >=400 deg.C by a heater 4, irradiated with laser beam 1 such as CO2 laser having 0.5-5kW output, heated to 3,500-4,000 deg.C, the alloy 2 is melted and bonded to give a uniform metallized layer having excellent strength.
