Abstract
PURPOSE:To accomplish improvement of the working atmosphere and prevent the production of yellow turbid water, by forming the titled slag-treating agent either as a sintered product from substances consisting chiefly of boron or as a mixture of said sintered product and vitrification product. CONSTITUTION:The objective slag-treating agent can be prepared by formulating raw materials comprising substances with boron as the active component, such as alkali metal borates, alkaline earth metal borates, borosilicic acid and its salts and aluminoborosilicate followed by treating the resultant formulations on heating to make a sintered product or its mixture with a vitrification product. This sintered product has such a granular size distribution as to range from 0.1-5mm, while the vitrification product contains >=90wt.% of the granules with the size ranging from 1-50mm. Said sintered product or said mixture has a melting point of <=1,100 deg.C, enabling ready dissolution and diffusion into the slag, thus suppressing or preventing slag dusting and degassing reaction leading to improvement of the working atmosphere along with prevention of the production of yellow turbid water.
